What (or more accurately who) is Calico Crew?
It’s a Street Team. A Street Team is a group of readers and fans who love to read. Since I write historicals, Street Team is just too hip and modern, so instead, we are the Calico Crew!
If you have an active presence on social media, love inspirational historical romance, and are passionate about telling others about books you’ve read, then read on…
Calico Crew Members will receive:
- Sneak peeks at my new story lines
- Advance readings of manuscripts before publication
- A chance to have input into the writing process, title suggestions, character names, and book covers
- Postcards, bookmarks, excerpts, and other promo materials
- Free books to share with friends and family
- New Friends and Prayer Partners. Sharing. Caring. Praying. I pray that life-long friendships blossom among myself and the crew members as we get to know each other.
I’ll also be asking my Calico Crew to do some of the following things. This list sounds exhausting, but everyone won’t do all of this, nor should they! Some of us have strengths in one area while others enjoy other avenues of communication.
- Let friends and family know about new releases
- Write a review for Amazon, CBD.com, Goodreads, Novel Crossing, Barnes and Noble, Books-A-Million, your local library’s website, or any other online review site; Write reviews for your local newspaper or group newsletters
- Talk about the book on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest – anywhere you interact with friends
- Blog about the book. I’m available for interviews, Q&As. And I will interact with your blog guests if at all possible.
- Ask your local library or your church library to order my books (or gift copies after reading)
- If you’re part of a Bible study, MOPS, or any other group, tell them about the book(s)
- Suggest my latest book to your book club, if applicable
- Direct people to my website
- Pin covers, badges, memes to Pinterest. Post to Snapchat, Instagram, etc.
- Share your favorite quotes from the book online. If you purchase an e-book, highlight your favorite quotes.
- Suggest the book on reading forums, like those you can find on GoodReads.
- Make a video about the book and upload it to YouTube or Vimeo
- Share your great ideas the the rest of the crew for more creative ways to get the word out!
